Tell me if this sounds familiar: your life is going great, everything is in place, opportunities are coming and of course you say yes to them. After a while you find yourself being more stressed than ever, overworked and even though your spur of growth is amazing, you just can not find the time to catch your breath properly.
Why? Because you said yes without taking into consideration the support system of your decision. Think of it as the back office of what you will have to deliver to rise to the new opportunities that you have welcomed so easily.
Judgement free zone
This is where most people just withdraw, quit or cancel their engagements even though they were so excited about them at first.
We are not here to judge: this does not mean they are not serious about it; this does not mean you can not rely on them; this does not mean to cancel future opportunities to set them up with.
It just simply means they currently were not aware of the need of creating a support system that will nurture the time and processes for that amazing outcome they could be delivering.
They do not need to be abandoned or cut off – they need help and support.
Business skills for everyday life
When an opportunity hits you, you need common business skills to be leveraged in your everyday life, such as analytical, estimation, planning, communication, management and so on. These are all skills that can be learned and there are oh so many ways to do that.
Before you say yes to new opportunities think of the following:
- Does this align with your long-term future?
- Will your return be greater than your investment?
- Does it fit your current schedule? If not, what can you change?
- What implication does it have? What will you have to spare to make this happen?
- Can you provide a sustained effort?
Feel free to add more questions that will fit your needs. Make sure you create a proper filter for opportunities that come along.
So there it is, hope I have answered some of your questions. Leave a comment or message me for more.
